Generational Farming

Generational farming is a special type of farming server that is for supporters of FSN, and also for the most hardcore of players! Here are some details for you regarding generational gameplay!

Difficulty Modifiers

  • Pricing of Generational land starts at 40,000 bux per acre, and can be higher for forestry or specialized land. This is nearly double the rate of most other server types.

  • Crop income has been reduced by 20-30% across the board for all crops and productions from the base game ‘hard’ setting.

  • Commodity Brokers will only be allowed to export certain goods at certain types from generational maps, and will have ‘cap’ pricing.

  • Costs of input items like diesel, lime, fertilizer and the like have been increased 1.5x-3x base game hard setting cost.

  • Contract income has been reduced.

  • Contracts no longer allow you to use the ‘borrow’ function, you must use your own equipment.

  • All Farmland must be won at auction. No ‘non-compete’ clauses allowed for auctions.

  • Tax rates are higher than base game servers.

  • Realistic Damage system implemented which requires better upkeep of motorized equipment.

  • Required crop rotations and maximum crop %'s.

  • Strict land purchase/resale systems and forestry limitations.

  • No GPS!

General Information

  • Generational Servers run on 24 day cycles, that are offset from all other server types.

  • New Generational Servers will only spool up if we have atleast 4+ farmers waiting in the queue, at which point, a new server will launch for those new farms.

  • Generational Farms are completely separate from the standard FSN economy. Money cannot move between Generational and Non-Generational farm accounts.

Generational Farming Rules

Labor Laws

1.) Farms are allowed outside help, with the following conditions…

A.) Only 1 contract may be up on the website at anytime.

B.) All contracts must pay an hourly rate of not less than $2,500 an hour.

C.) Labor exchanging between Generational Farms is allowed, you can help your neighbor and vice versa.

Transportation Laws

1.) All large tractors and implements above 10m working width must be hauled using a lowboy. (Fert/Lime Spreaders & Sprayers are exempt from this.)

A.) Pickup trucks with flatbeds are allowed to haul any equipment BELOW the above heading.

B.) Anything that meets or exceeds the above heading MUST be hauled using a semi.

C.) Harvesters are allowed to TOW their headers on a trailer, they must not be attached during transport to the front of the harvester.

2.) All equipment on the roadway shall use hazards, beacons and respect local speed limits.

3.) Bale Loading Trailers are NOT allowed on the road. You must stack and load bales on a flatbed or other bale transport device.

4.) Field Staging: You are allowed equipment at a field you are working for a NPC contract, or for yourself, for up to 48 hours preceding and proceeding operations. Beyond this you may be subject to fines.

5.) Store Parking: You are allowed up to two pieces of equipment at the store, at parking that is not spawn points. Only do this if you have a valid reason. Items must not be on spawn points for more than 48 hours from time of purchase.

Land Laws

1.) Absolutely no cutting across fields, meadows, forests or any non-public roadways.

2.) No mowing or harvesting any unowned or public land.

3.) Terraforming of land is Not Allowed. The only exception to this is to smooth an area for placing a building.

4.) Farm buildings may only be placed on meadowlands, or cleared forestry land. Buildings may be placed on former field, so long as it is tasteful and the structures are atleast 10m from the new field borders. Any buildings placed must be removed and the land must be restored to it’s original state before sale at auction.

5.) Farm buildings must be atleast 10 meters from fields and roadways.

6.) Crop balancing and rotation to be as follows…

A.) No farm can vest it’s entire operation in a single crop. The following limits apply…

– 1 Field Owned (Excluded)

– 2 Fields Owned (No more than 50% of any 1 crop)

– 3 Fields Owned (No more than 33% of any 1 crop)

– 4+ Fields Owned (No more than 25% of any 1 crop)

B.) Crops must be rotated annually. A crop can only be planted in a field once every 3 years.

C.) Meadows must remain as meadows and can only be used for meadow cuttings, they cannot be used for field creation.

D.) Forestry areas must remain as either forestry or farm building areas, they cannot be used for field creation.

The above will be enforced through both the website and spot-checks by the warden team

Forestry Laws

1.) Forestry may be conducted at any time of the year if done appropriately, and with acquired permits.

2.) Logging operations may only be conducted on ‘plantable’ style trees. This means pines/spruces/straight trees with ‘poofable’ branches. Any tree that has cuttable / haulable branches like Oak etc are not permitted for logging operations. One tree must be planted at minimum for every tree felled, and permits must be attained.

3.) Logging operations may have no more than 3 trees felled at once without them being loaded.

4.) At no time will there be any branches or logs left on the ground unattended. They must be logged and delivered to sell/production point at time of cutting.

5.) If clear cutting a forestry plot, the plot must be returned to original state before it can be sold. This means properly replanted (not straight rows but scattered like the plot was to begin with) with atleast the number of trees harvested being replanted.

A.) The exception to rule 5 is if the cutting is to make way for a farm building, in this instance the farm building may be placed so long as it is terraformed carefully and properly (Smooth the land before placing the building to ensure no wonky terraforming)

Contract Laws

1.) All farms are welcome to accept contracts, with the following being adhered to…

A.) Cannot ‘borrow’ equipment to perform a contract (This is generally auto disabled)

B.) Can sell off or keep excess crops after contract completion.

C.) Can have assistance with a contract from another farmer and split the income.

D.) Must use owned equipment

Production & Animal Laws

1.) May own up to 5 production style buildings.

2.) some production buildings may be able to be purchased/won at auction. This will be determined by the admin team on any new map iteration.

3.) You may own up to 5 animal buildings, in any configuration.

4.) Animals must be transported both to and from your facilities. The only exception to this is chickens.

5.) Animals cannot be left in the red. If spot-checked and found to be in the red on a call-back check by wardens, or as a second infraction, a penalty of no less than $5,000 per head will be assessed.

Equipment & Material Laws

1.) All equipment must be maintained ALWAYS above 50% maintenance MINIMUM.

2.) Equipment may be borrowed between farms if both parties consent.

3.) A farm may have a maximum of 50 pieces of equipment. In the event a server goes over 200 pieces of equipment, this law will update to 40, 30 and finally 25 as necessary to keep total equipment count below 200. Everyone will participate in reductions when they are called on, so that even young farms have a chance to grow without being equipment limited.

4.) All pallets will always be stored. Production facility outputs should be handled and moved at a minimum every 72 hours to keep the number of spawned pallets at a minimum.

5.) At no time will any farm have more than 50 bales out at once. Conduct larger baling operations in segments to ensure you remain below this requirement.

Financial Laws

1.) Farms will always begin with $250,000 bux cash, and a $200,000 bank loan. The maximum bank loan is capped at $500,000.

2.) Generational farms cannot use the player bank system for savings, or for loans.

3.) Generational farms cannot use the checkbook OR invoice feature. All paid for work must be paid for via the contract system.

A.) The one exception to the above is that farmers on the same map may exchange funds in game for services or materials rendered.

4.) No “Atta Boy” or “Boys Club” operations are allowed. Auctions are up for everyone, and it is expected everyone who is interested in the land, will bid. Competition is just a bi-product, and we want everyone to be good sports, no land should be getting sold for base price unless 7 of 8 farmers are truly too broke to participate.
