Farming is a scalable operation, meaning that if you aren’t sure if it’s for you, or you are on a budget, you can start small and expand over time.
We recommend a starting plot of 10 to 50 acres for first time farmers.
Crops such as wheat, barley, and soybeans are some of the easiest to get into with relatively fast growth and low equipment requirements.
Some crops, such as hay, coffee and grapes will regrow, meaning you do not always have to replant.
Some crops like cotton, grapes and coffee require specialized harvesters to harvest, keep this in mind before planting and budgeting!
