Research is an important aspect in Entreprenauts for any long term or specialized business. Research is a way to make your company more efficient, produce or have access to unique items and systems, test soil samples, and much more.
101 - Research
Not all subsidiary types yet have research trees, and those that do, are likely not complete yet and are expected to have much more. Please keep this in mind!
Every industry has, or will have, it’s own unique tree requiring a subsidiary of that specific type to be able to gain knowledge in that tree.
This means a logistics company cannot gain practical knowledge in manufacturing, and vice versa.
Research is based on your practical knowledge points, which accrue by doing industry related items (Manufacturing for Manufacturing, Deliveries for Logistics, Etc)
Only researchable items that are within 1,000 points of your current practical point level are visible.
If you see a specialized research item with triangle “Warning” icon, it means the effects may not yet be live for that item.

In order to use a research facility, you must go to specialized research > Facilities and then “Activate” a facility. This will add the researchers to your total pool. Deactivating will remove them from the pool. Currently there is no cost for them being active so it’s best to just leave them on!
Whenever you have enough points for a new specialized research, simply enter the number of researchers to assign and begin the research.
Basic Principles
To do research, you must have a Research Facility, there are 3 options, all available in global market and needing commercial land.
In addition, once built, you will need to hire researchers.
Specialized research is industry specific research only available to a company that is in that industry, and has research facilities to conduct this research.
Blueprint & Sample research can be done by any company with a Research Facility.
Blueprint purchases for general items and equipment can be made by any company. Blueprints for advanced items, industry specific items, or unlockables are only available to specialized companies or ones who have done adequate research to unlock them.
Currently Researching for other companies is not possible, but will be in the near future!
