Satellites

Satellites are another interesting piece that brings several industries together in Nauts. Below is some information outlining what satellites are for, and how they work in Entreprenauts. Note, that satellites are in their infancy and many other types will be coming!

Communications Satellites

Communications satellites are utilized for a number of purposes in Nauts. These can include, but are not limited to: Long Range Communication with Assets that would otherwise be unreachable (Remote Sites, Sailing on the Ocean Etc), providing communication links between assets for coordinate operations (Archaeology buoy drops and search grids, PMC operations, etc.), and data relays.

GPS Satellites

GPS Satellites provide global positioning for assets on the ground that have installed GPS ready equipment. This can be extremely useful in optimizing route and delivery times, and tracking military assets in ongoing operations.

Drone vs Mother Satellite

There are two forms of satellites. One is a “Drone” satellite, and this one is generally cheaper and used as part of a constellation. A “Mother” satellite is generally more expensive and is used to form new foundations, or to upgrade an existing constellation to extra capacity.

Satellite Constellations

Satellite constellations are networks of satellites put together to form one group used in a unified purpose. Constellations can start with as little as 1 mother and 1 drone satellite, but reliability and coverage go up as more are added in.

Starting A Constellation

In order to have a satellite constellation, your company must have atleast 10,000 research points in any industry, and the ability to build/buy the satellites needed, and then get them into orbit. This can be done via your own launch platforms, or via contracting to player owned Aerospace companies with launch capabilities.

It is advised that careful thought is placed into a constellation create, as it’s creation, launch, and maintaining can be hundreds of millions, into billions, of bux.
